For over 18 years, Mell’O’ has lived with chronic hiccups associated with his condition, Type III achalasia. What may seem like a minor inconvenience to others has become an ongoing challenge in his life. Living with persistent hiccups, alongside the difficulties associated with this condition, has taken its toll on his everyday life.
The effects reach beyond the hiccups themselves. Eating and drinking, getting proper rest, managing discomfort and simply trying to go about daily life can become difficult when a health condition is constantly affecting you. The physical and emotional strain of dealing with this for so many years is difficult to put into words.
After years of trying to save and summoning the courage to ask for help, a GoFundMe was set up with the goal of £20,000 to help cover the cost of the operation and associated medical expenses. The final amount needed will depend on the treatment plan and the costs confirmed by my medical team.
After a push on social media by fellow artists like Blade, and an appearance on This Morning, the majority of the money has been raised with just under £2000 to go so a final push is needed.
Asking for help is never easy but we need to support our legends the same way artists like Nas are trying to support theirs overseas.
